How Gish handles accessibility.

Gifting is for everyone. We're committed to WCAG 2.2 AA conformance across the web app, mobile apps, and browser extensions — and to telling you honestly what works today and what doesn't.

Our commitment

Gish is built to be usable by people with the widest possible range of abilities. Specifically:

• Keyboard-only navigation across every interactive element
• Screen-reader compatibility with VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS, and TalkBack
• Sufficient color contrast — we test the 50 themes for AA contrast (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text)
• Reduced-motion respect — animations honor prefers-reduced-motion
• High-contrast mode — honors prefers-contrast and Windows Forced Colors
• Touch targets ≥ 44pt × 44pt on coarse-pointer devices
• Resizable text up to 200% without loss of content or function
• No keyboard traps, no time-only auth, no audio-only confirmations

• VoiceOver (macOS, iOS) and NVDA (Windows) on every major flow
• axe-core automated checks in CI
• Lighthouse accessibility scores ≥ 95 required to merge
• Quarterly third-party audits by Deque Systems
• Lived-experience reviews by paid disabled testers (we contract with Fable)

Known limitations

Honest list of things that are not yet conformant:

• The 50-theme picker has a small number of themes that fall below AA contrast on certain text/background combinations. We're auditing each theme and will gate any non-conformant theme behind a "Decorative only" flag with the conformant default falling back. Tracked: GISH-A11Y-118.
• The dashboard's Cmd+K command palette announces results inconsistently across screen readers. Fix scheduled for May 2026.
• Voice intro audio on profile pages is text-to-speech generated; we provide the source text inline as a fallback.
• Some animated SVG illustrations on marketing pages don't have alt-text descriptions yet.
