Your contribution
is protected.

Every dollar that flows through an outcome fund or cause campaign on Gish is held in escrow until the verified payee actually receives it. If something goes wrong, we refund you. Up to $1,000 per contributor, per event, within 14 days.

How the guarantee works.

Four steps. Same posture as GoFundMe's Giving Guarantee, with one improvement — we hold the funds in escrow before they ever reach the recipient.

i

Escrow at contribution

The moment you contribute, your money is held by the platform escrow — not by the recipient or the campaign organizer. Nothing is released until verification.

ii

Verification at delivery

For outcome funds, the verified payee (hospital, university, landlord, non-profit) confirms receipt. For cause campaigns, we verify against the campaign's stated outcome before release.

iii

Refund if delivery fails

If the funds don't reach the verified payee within the deadline, every contribution is refunded automatically. No claim needed. No fee charged.

iv

Claim if something else goes wrong

If you believe the campaign was misrepresented or the funds were misused, file a claim within 14 days of the event. We review within 5 business days and refund up to $1,000.

What's covered.

The Guarantee covers the failure modes that matter most for trust-based contributions. Three categories.

A · Delivery failure

Funds never reach the payee.

If the deadline passes and the verified payee hasn't received the funds — or the campaign is cancelled — every contributor is refunded automatically.

100% refund · automatic · zero claim required
B · Misrepresentation

Campaign was a fraud.

If our Trust & Safety review finds the campaign materially misrepresented its purpose, beneficiary, or recipient, contributors within 14 days are refunded.

Up to $1,000 / contributor / event · 14-day window
C · Misuse

Funds went somewhere else.

If a verified payee accepts the funds but our audit shows they were diverted from the stated outcome (rare; verified-payee status pulled), contributors get refunded.

Up to $1,000 / contributor / event · case-by-case

What's not covered.

The Guarantee is a trust layer, not insurance. Some things it doesn't cover, by design.

A change of mind after the campaign succeeded and the funds were released to a verified payee in good faith.
Solo gifts (you bought a thing for a person; this is a normal retail purchase under the seller's return policy).
Group buys where the contributors collectively chose to fulfill an item that arrived as described.
Patron tier subscriptions you forgot to cancel (cancel anytime; we don't refund past months).
Disputes between you and the recipient about what the gift "should have been" — we don't arbitrate taste.
Tax implications of refunds (check with your accountant; we report contributions and refunds to relevant authorities).

Common questions.

How is this different from GoFundMe's Giving Guarantee?

Two real differences: (1) Gish holds funds in escrow before release — GoFundMe sends funds to the campaign organizer first, then refunds you if you can prove misuse. We make misuse harder by never releasing funds to an unverified payee. (2) Outcome funds on Gish go to verified payees directly (hospital, registrar, landlord, non-profit) — the recipient never touches the cash. That alone eliminates 80% of fraud vectors.

How do I file a claim?

Open the receipt for the contribution you want to dispute, tap "File Guarantee claim," select a reason, and submit. We review within 5 business days and respond by email. No fee. No retaliation.

Why is there a $1,000 cap?

The cap aligns with the typical contribution range on the platform (median outcome-fund contribution is around $80; 95th percentile is under $400). For larger contributions, contact us for case-by-case review — we've never declined a legitimate claim above the cap, but we want the conversation rather than an automated decision.

Does the Guarantee apply to international contributions?

Yes. The cap is denominated in your local currency at the FX rate at time of refund. Some jurisdictions have additional consumer-protection rights that apply on top of the Guarantee — we honor whichever is broader.

Does the Guarantee cost extra?

No. It's included in the standard processing fee disclosed at checkout. There's no separate "Guarantee fee" line item.

What about Loconomy ID trust score impact?

Filing a Guarantee claim does not affect your Loconomy ID trust score. Filing in bad faith (knowingly false claims) does — and we publish the threshold in the Verified payees terms.
